This is probably one of the best headsets you can get. It's an airtube headset where the copper wire ends about 6 inches from the earplug. This is a great solution to standard cell phone headsets that have a copper wire that goes all the way to the earplug, therefore sending radiation through it. I always thought that standard headsets (not bluetooth) didn't send any radiation, was I wrong... This air tube headset is very unique, it's like a hollow stetoscopic air tube like the ones you're used to have on airplanes back in the days that conveys the sound without any cables. It's the hollow tube (like a string in a can) keeps radiation from traveling on the copper wire into the ear canal which is the gateway to the brain. With this headset, the copper wire ends before coming to the head, the last 6 inches is the hollow airtube where the sounds travels through. The tube is made with recycled plastic and the box is made out of recycled cardboard. This also works if you're always with a headset by your laptop. By being mono you will keep it from getting untangled with the other cable.

The founder said something I always believed on: that cell phones could be the most catastrophic epidemic of our times. "It's like putting your head on microwave oven and turning switch on" he adds. Back in early 2,000's he started being forgetful, so he sought out a solution to. what's the most despised modern day convenience we cant live without. Even the regular headset could amplify the radiation because of the copper wire inside.

Here's a list of the radiation from almost all cell phones: http://www.ewg.org/cellphoneradiation/Get-a-Safer-Phone?allavailable=1

Samsung has an impressive five phones out of the first ten with the lowest levels of radiation. I personally carry the iPhone and was very tempted to switch to the Droid but, with as much as .50 more W/kg the amount of radiation than the iPhone, I won't be doing that anytime soon.

  • Interesting concept. Is there any significant sound loss as it travels through the air tube?

Also, hate to say it but I do question the validity of their selling point. Radiation isn't conducted by copper and in fact has an easier time traveling through air than copper...

  • @rorkimaru not that I could tell, since it's only 6 inches I didn't feel any difference whatsoever :)

  • Wow, what an excellent idea! How does the sound quality compare with standard headphones? Narrow tubes tend to act as low-pass filters due to viscous dissipation. If it's just transmitting narrow bandwidth human voice then it doesn't really matter. I really like this idea to keep near-field Gigahertz radiation away from the head! However with the proliferation of wifi and cellphones it is almost unavoidable now. Nobody really knows what the long term consequences are yet either....

  • @khyar sound was pretty much the same, I didn't feel any difference and even if I did, I'd prefer this over more exposure to radiation ;)

and yes you're right we can't really avoid most of it, but we can try to diminish what we do have control over... let's see how we turn out in a few decades!

  • @EcoBold Yes, absolutely. So what do you think about the TSA airport scanners? x-ray shower and some stranger seeing your naked body. If you opt out you get a very intimate pat-down. All in the name of security.... -_-

  • @khyar pat-down hands down!

  • wow - 6 hours a day on a cell phone? must've had some amazing long life battery or kept it plugged in, lol... that's too much yackin on any phone a day ya think?

and he got headaches? did he ever get a brain scan to see if there was something going on in there? a friend of mine has complained of headaches too and her phone is practically glued to her head all the time.

  • This is actually a very good idea.

  • halooo......

  • Add ferrite bead behind the jack and most of radiation will be suppressed.

It helps to use the damn phone less too.
