Fatal Cat Snakebite

My sisters young male cat Odie,was seen crossing the driveway into the woods by me when I got home from work.Thirty minutes later I got a call from her to get to her house quickly,she found him dead on the back porch.He was still very warm,I cleaned the blood from his face and shaved a little fur until I could see the wounds,fang holes were clearly visible.I don't think he would have made it to the vet,even if we saw it happen. What you hear in the background is the sounds of south Georgia during summer and my 3 year old niece upset,and wondering why Odie would not wake up.He probably never saw it coming before it was too late,nevertheless I would never hurt a snake.If I see them I catch them only if they are dangerous, and move them to thousands of acres of paper company property away from any ignorant people who would kill any snake they see. A few years prior to this video I watched in slow motion,and awe as a young copperhead I picked up from my yard to move, swung his left fang out to the side of his mouth to do the unbelievable and give a good twitch to barely prick the end of my middle finger with his fang,just one,he knew he could do it,save himself,good for him.Even though my arm slowly swelled up from my finger to my shoulder,and I thought it would burst with every heartbeat I don't blame the snake one bit.I have been fascinated by them since I could walk.

I didn't remember what my comment was from 11 months ago.

I keep pet snakes, I'm the guy in the neighborhood that people call when they find a hurt snake.

I have seen a number of snakes damaged or killed by cats.

Most snakes are not venomous, and can not defend themselves properly.

Snakes are good to have around your yard.

If you have them, you also have rodents.

The snakes are killing rodents that carry disease.

I give a Thumbs up for snakes!

i am so sorry about ur cat. I had an 12 year old cat and a 1 year old cat kiki n emme they were out door cats as well one morning i was getting ready for school and my dad came up stairs and told me that he had found kiki dyin in the grass it was so sad n we new emme was outside as well so we wanted to get her in as soon as possible then our naiboor came n told us there was a dead cat in her area and it was emme we think that someone poisoned them it was such a hard moring. i couldnt go 2 school

@legion1a Yes snakes are pretty cool creatures. I dont see why people hate them, maybe its just they are scared of them. But they are more scared of you than you are of them. Plus they keep rodents numbers minimal so they dont spread. Same with spiders, if there werent any spiders then bugs would be all over the place. So really I love snakes in fact I have two in my room but they are very friendly, they tend to get on my shoulders alot. The snakes also dont bother my cats either. So yeah.

@TimmyGal It's amazing to me. People can be loving and compassionate, but they find something they truly hate and to only that one singular thing can be so cruel. I'm not, by the way being so simple minded as to compare your little sis to hitler, but as an example, hitler was more than likely a loving and caring person in some ways (such as with Eva), but he hated the jews so much that that he lacked any humanity towards them. Sick, but amazing.

@N617A Typical cat-fanatic thinks cats are indelible. I know animals, and I never heard of a cat being resistant to venom, nor having faster reflexes than a snake. No other animal is faster than a snake's strike. I don't blame you though. It's those nature shows that over-glorifies felines. You shouldn't believe everything Animal Planet says.
