God said "drummers should not do things the easy way" in which holy book? I'm sure that rebounds were cheating when head tension got high enough for the moeller technique. Don't forget that tabala drummers use their fingers - cheating. Ooo Ooo, using pedals instead of kicking the drum is cheating.

Remember music is the mastery of sonic expression and the language of the soul, not a competetion between athletes!

To think this requires no skill and is cheating seems illogical. You obviously need to develop control to balance strikes on both sides of the cymbals and adapt to the sense of playing this style while maintaining patterns with the other hands and feet. While this particular tool might or might not last, innovation should always be welcome in the creative and artistic community. Give him credit for being creative.
