25C3: Playing with capacitors

What do hackers do when they get bored? Blow things up!

Unfortunately, blowing things up is a somewhat hazardous thing to do indoors, so we had to settle for making things go bang.

It so happens that Erant had a couple of rather large capacitors lying around.

Unfortunately, the rather hilarious first attempt at shorting out about 125V across one of the caps was not recorded on video. Instead, here's the rest of the tests.

Specs: about 7000uF, 170V each. Charged in series to a maximum of 300V or so. They were already partially discharged at the beginning of the video, though.

hey Bro, with all due respect, what do you do, shortcircuit the capacitor.

I have a Much better Game, just connect the Capacitor, the wron way, the opposite way. I guess you know what I mean, but don't do it, you're gonna kill yourself, seriously, especially with a large capacitor, like the one you have here.
