East Lancs Railway War Weekend

Every year, the East Lancs Railway based in Bury, holds it's War Weekend where most people join in & dress up in WW11 clothing, including original & authentic uniforms of the British Army, R.A.F & Navy, U.S. Army, U.S.A.F. & German Army plus a few more that I haven't mentioned. This was my 1st time at the event & the whole day was memorable not only of the people who were dressed for the occasion, but also the trade stands, air raid siren that kept on going off & the music being played from that era. Also, most of the shops in Ramsbottom got into the swing of things by decorating their windows, but the highlight was the battle re-enactment at Regensburg (Rawtenstall) Station. Thanks for watching.

Well, this is unexpected and quite interesting. It's good to see history being re-enacted so that the people might understand it more. History matters. I am an American.

We're sometimes condemned by our European neighbours about dwelling on the past, but history is history. There's never any complaints about the knights in shining armour on horse back. Maybe some countries are embarressed/ashamed of what's happened and don't like being reminded, but over here we remember our dead as they paid a VERY big price to help keep the peace. Over in the States there's Civil War reinactments, are there any protests that they should be banned?

This is a great film with great people who want to remember the sacrifices made in the pursuit of the destruction of evil in Europe. And have a bloody good day out while they are there.

There is always a fantastic atmosphere at events like this.

Great footage, would be good to get a snap of Billy the Ghost at Bury Bolton Street station. Does anyone know anything about this? Supposably the ghost of a steam time platform guardsman.
