Jennifer Lawrence Lands "Katniss" Role In 'The Hunger Games'

A relative newcomer lands the coveted leading role in Hunger Games! You won't want to miss this big update up next on ClevverTV!

Hey guys, I'm your girl Dana Ward at the ClevverTV studios today with some major casting scoop on the upcoming Hunger Games movie. The role of Katniss Everdeen has officially been cast, and Oscar-nominee Jennifer Lawrence has nabbed the part. Website TheWrap.com was first to report that Jennifer had landed role of the conflicted heroine from Suzanne Collins' best-seller about children forced to compete in a fight-to-the-death battle. There were several leading ladies in Hollywood who were battling it out for the role, including Abigail Breslin, Kaya Scodelario, Chloe Moretz, and fellow Oscar-nominee Hailee Steinfeld.

Both Lionsgate and Lawrence's rep haven't responded to the news. Those of you unfamiliar with Jennifer can catch her in the critically acclaimed film Winter's Bone. She can also be seen in the upcoming Mel Gibson movie The Beaver, as well as X-Men First Class. Meanwhile, the casting for Katniss' love interests Gale and Peeta still remains a mystery. Alex Pettyfer, Josh Hutcherson and fan-favorite Hunter Parrish are all reportedly in contention for the role of Peeta Meelark. Omg guys, they're something called HAIR DYE and MAKEUP!!! Would you rather have someone who supposedly looks naturally like everyone's image of Katniss, or would you rather have an AMAZING actress that can be made to look like the perfect Katniss. And did the book ever said she looked like a little girl? A 16 year old can easily look a lot older.
