With the floor of Conte Forum converted to half-rink, half-court, the men's and women's basketball and hockey teams showcased their skills in song, dance, and friendly competition at Boston College's first ever Ice Jam, a preseason pep rally held October 26. Highlights included a 99 mph slap shot from defenseman Tommy Cross '12, a Reggie Jackson '12 dunk executed while vaulting over senior center Josh Southern (listed at 6′ 10″), and the dance moves of women's basketball coach Sylvia Crawley to the music of "Teach Me How to Dougie." Sportscaster and Boston College parent Bob Costas emceed the event, joined by rapper Vanilla Ice and Heisman Trophy-winner Doug Flutie '85, and the coaches—Katie KIng (women's hockey), Jerry York (men's hockey), Steve Donahue (men's basketball), and Crawley.
