The cake sound effect I have always rated as the funniest sound effect in movie history. This short is a gem not only because it is genuinely funny but deeply moving as well. The story? Dickie's abusive dad is so mean to Dickie's mom that Dickie decides to cheer her by buying her a $2 dress for her birthday. Not having the money, he tries to raise it by baking the cake with his pals and selling prize-filled slices to other kids.. This short evokes an amazing mixture of laughter and tears.

To be exact, the dress was $1.98...but yes, the story was very touching...and taught that cheapskate father a good lesson.
