If JJ Abrahms had directed STAR TREK VI, how different would it have been? Certainly there would have been blue lens flares in every shot, more lasers, diffusion glows, slow motion extravaganzas with dramatic music, and so on. Here is a brief "What if" presentation of the JJ approach to the Undiscovered Country....

  • The working environment on the alternative universe starship must be very uncomfortable since, you know, everywhere you look , there will always be something flaring your eyes. The federation must have got many lawsuits related to its members' eye health. I love our universe better...

  • It isn't that he doesn't know how to make film. His problem is that he holds his audiences in contempt. Everything he makes deliberately insults the viewer's intelligence.

McCoy: "But seriously, who in hell designs a starship with lights flashing in your eyes from virtually every angle??"

Spock: "I believe it was Admiral Abrams' idea.

Kirk: "Admiral?? When did HE make Admiral? Quite frankly, he doesn't deserve to be wearing that uniform.."

  • @fogell359

Spock: *raises eyebrow* "I had forgotten, humans have no inner eyelid."

McCoy: "You bet we don't! And just how many green-blooded engineers were around when they built this heap!?"

Spock: "I assure you doctor, Vulcans would not build such illogical devices into a space vessel. Or any vessel, for that ma-"

Kirk: "All the same, they're off now, and they'll stay, off, unless absolutely neccisary. Damn, I need contacts..."

  • Kirk: "Wait, I have an idea. Computer, shut off all lens flare generators."

Spock: "For what purpose did that serve Captain?"

Kirk: "My eyes were hurting, I can't think dammit!"

  • needs more product placement, and red and green lasers. otherwise good job.

  • General Chang: "Have you no decency, Abrams? Our franchise was great, until you blatantly defiled that franchise! For that, I shall blow you out of the stars!"

  • Screw JJ Abrams and his lens flares. He ass raped Star Trek!

  • It's Abrams...but pretty funny.

    Lens flare is pretty.

  • Abrams on his use of lens flare, just for objectivity:

"I wanted a visual system that felt unique. I know there are certain shots where even I watch and think, "Oh that's ridiculous, that was too many." But I love the idea that the future was so bright it couldn't be contained in the frame."

See, he's not a total douche, he just tried something a bit different and didn't realise at the time that it wouldn't work. I can sympathize.

  • My EYES... the goggles do NOTHING!!!!
