  • There's an interesting article in today's New York Times that mentions brush turkeys. Apparently a day-old chick (actually, poult is the correct word for a baby turkey) can run up vertical walls & trees, making use of their wings not for vertical lift, but to maintain pressure against the surface they're running up. The ability gets lost as they get older, however. Article is at wwwDOTnytimesDOTcom/2011/01/04­/science/04birds.html.

  • Very nice, I really like Brush Turkeys. Lived in Brisbane for a 4 months earlier this year and they are everywhere.
