@trainzrok Of course I've taken Amtrak out of Penn Station before so I am familiar with showing ticket at the gate. It is also like this in Albany, NY and from what I hear, Washington Union Station. It's just like showing a ticket to go into the waiting room.
@NHRHS2010 Yes it is New York Penn. Tracks 5 through 15 have East and west gates. If you go to the main concourse area, you'll see an entrance to the platform on each side of the concourse. Those are the gates. If you're boarding an Amtrak train, you have to show your ticket at the gate. It's a bit difficult to explain, but once you see it in person it's pretty self explanatory.
Hold on, was this in New York Penn Station? I've been there many times but never heard of "west gate" and "east gate" platforms. I just know the platforms by its number
@NHRHS2010 Yeah, they barely even enforce it anyway. I was in the waiting room but was waiting for a NJT train. They didn't check anything.
