The freewheel seems to bind and make this awful noise, despite being new.

  • I like Trek but somehow, i felt that TREK is over hype.

  • I should let it be known that Trek replaced the entire bike and have been great to work with. I don't regret getting this bike at all.

  • Hello, received a Trek District S (aka - soho S). I am getting an un-natural clicking, tapping type noise only when I pedal. Did you experience something similar? Bike has been at the shop 7 times now. The bike is 2 months old.

  • @VoodooPolitico

    don't forget DIAMANT ;) ---> w w w. diamantrad. com

  • If you are using a REAL bike shop, they should at the very least attempt to fix it. Its very very cool that Trek, through your shop Im sure, replaced it. VERY COOL. Trek always "got it" in my opinion. With Klien, Bontrager, Gary Fisher under their wing they just seemed very cool about taking care of the riders. For me, they replaced an entire rim, TWICE. I'll always buy Trek and Trek brands.

  • is your chain too tight, that would also make it want to pedal itself

  • its a shitty frreewheel

  • Hey does it have a fixed side?

  • Trek is a good firm. Today, most everthing is made overseas. Trek is pretty darned good about spec'ing and overseeing quality control. No wallymart junk bikes bear the Trek name.

    Sounds to me like a minor problem with QC at the factory that made the apparently single-speed coaster hub. It may be a slightly bent, rubbbing grease shield, or a mal-adjustment of of a cone bearing, or a damaged/defective bearing.

    Just so good of them to replace the entire bike,

    when all it needed was repair.

  • sounds like the chain tension is too tight.

    But good on Trek for changing the bike. I would have told you to get out of my shop. But then, I am not American.

  • I'm sure. Armstrong wouldn't ride anything that is not near to perfection.
