"Don't blame it on Elvis," by the Fabulous McClevertys (1956/57). In the mid-1950s the band regularly accompanied the Mighty Charmer, who later abandoned music and became known as Louis Farrakhan, the controversial leader of the Nation of Islam. In the 1950s, Louis Farrakhan was a leading calypso singer in the United States.
The primary backup band for The Charmer at the time, was a band of calypso musicians from the Virgin Islands; Johnny McCleverty's Calypso Boys, who were based in New York at the time. This band later was joined by Johnny's brother Carl McCleverty and called the Fabulous McClevertys.
Great song and wonderful video. Really entertaining. Many thanks.

I just heard Big Sandy and the E-56 Band do this song at the Rockin' E Jamboree in Green Bay on August 29th. It was an Elvis Festival with lots of great music!

Calypso Louie was a pretty good entertainer. Too bad he got associated with the wacky NOI.
