  • i recently got my ingrown toenail removed. but i have a serious infection. my doctor didnt wear gloves, or use anything to steralize, is this a problem? should i be concerned, he has removed two from the same place. i am afraid it will only get worse.

  • @UFkid100 Unfortunately we cannot comment on this particular situation. However as a general rule, if you have any questions regarding the procedure method our practice would recommend that you get a second opinion.

  • why did you just did a partial ungiectomy?isn't it better if you remove the whole nail?

  • @SuperHobby21 If you remove the entire nail, you run a greater risk of damaging the root of your nail bed and infection. Plus taking off the whole nail does not cure the ingrown toenail. You run a greater risk of the ingrown toenail returning if you remove the entire nail. And you toenail still looks great the next day after the procedure with only a partial removal. Hope this helps!

  • I have an ingrown toenail and I stubbed it on accident and it perpetuated the problem. Now near the corner of the root my skin is somewhat purple and the rest of the affected side is swollen. Is it infected? I have an appointment with my Podiatrist on Thursday, should I take penicillin?

  • @TheRatedRThuglife77 I would just wait and see what your podiatrist says. If your toenail is infected, your podiatrist will give you antibiotics.

  • The grossest part of this video is the shot! Hate needles :(

  • @NeuhausFootandAnkle thank you for the reply...mind cleared

  • Has anyone complained about this surgery being painful? I have to get it done with my toe already being infected so it would hurt even worse. Would it hurt either way?

  • @UFkid100 i just got one removedtoday at my podiatrists office. my doctordidnt wear gloves, im sure yours washed his hands first. if it keeps coming backit may just be the way your nail grows

  • thanks for the video, I watched a video for this earlier and the whole nail was removed and it made my sick and think.. I would rather just have the toe cut off than deal with that, but now after seeing how it normaly goes it doesnt seem as bad as I originally thought so thanks.

  • I had this done 6ish weeks ago on both big toes and my feet have never felt better! My only regret is the fact that I put it off for so long (we're talking at least 3 years). The only major difference was my DPM used a cold spray (ethyl chloride??) during the numbing process - that made the procedure virtually painless. Recovery was just as painless as the procedure itself. I highly recommend this if you have troublesome toenails!

  • My doctor did NOT numb in the right spot. The cutting + taking away of the nail down to the root was done without numbness + a terrible amount of pain.I almost threw up + felt like passing out. Then the doctor told me he was going to use this flame torch thing to burn off the sore.He sprayed alcohol on the toe and said,"Don't worry if you smell flesh burning,it's me burning off the sore."He touched the flame to my toe and WHOOSH! A flame flew up and covered my leg.I was SO mad at this guy.
