im left handed when i handle shinai, and was told the same thing by the san diego kendo club. you should chek out my videos and see how it worked out for me

ebay, i have made a basic video on shinai quality. however they sometimes sell them at Renaissance fairs

My former sensei (sempai to be exact) was lefthanded. It never made his kendo any different. He says it was actually easier at first because it was easy to let the left hand dominate. So there really is no reason to let your left handedness affect your possibilities to do kendo.
