Heart disease remains the leading cause of death in the United States for men and women. But, as Dr. Caldwell B. Esselstyn, Jr., a former internationally known surgeon, researcher and clinician at the Cleveland Clinic, explains, it can be prevented, reversed, and even abolished. Dr. Esselstyn argues that conventional cardiology has failed patients by developing treatments that focus only on the symptoms of heart disease, rather than the cause.

This is a 10-minute excerpt from Dr. Esselstyn's 90-minute talk at the Healthy Lifestyle Expo 2007. To get a DVD containing the full talk, along with fascinating presentations of 11 other experts, see http://www.vegsource.com and click on "STORE."

  • @luvintherawlife A Plant based diet saved my life!! I tell doctors and pharmaceutical companies to go to hell

  • When he shows the slide of the plaque rupturing I had a flashback of every cheeseburger I have ever eaten. I want some celery all of the sudden.

  • @ihjmobile Yep... Google Search Esselstyn Radiograph and then click on Images... about the 9th one down is radiographs of patients who have had REVERSAL of their atherosclerosis on this diet. Dr. Dean Ornish shows this too, better results than stents. This is why I am on this lifestyle. Both my grandfathers, two uncles and a cousin died relatively young of heart attacks. I refuse to be next!

  • @delafoo, I really like potatoes as well, are cooked potatoes allowed (or baked). And Yogurt after evening meals or Sandwich Spread on bread in the morning? Thanks. This is very interesting since my father`s side have all been suffering from earlier death`s from heart attacks (mostly between 50/60). I`m tired of all these doctors telling you about medicines and never giving you any or much advice on healthy foods and lifestyles.

  • @ihjmobile Recommended: Whole, plant based foods. Mostly anything unprocessed. Fruits, veggies, whole grains, nuts in small quantities, legumes.

Not recommended: anything processed. Oil of any kind, refined sugars, meat of any kind. If it comes in a box, it's generally not good. There are a few whole grain oil free breads out there that are good. Lots of beans, rice, quinoa, fruits, veggies. Basically what we ate before Wal-Mart!

  • @delafoo, so which main foods are recommended and which main foods you are not allowed to eat?

  • If we didnt eat meat then there wouldnt be a society !!!

  • Caldwell Esselstyn has similar finding to Max Gerson , so wonderful :)

See them both in the movie "Dying to Have Known" (2006) - it's great :)
