Mr. Clifford's 60 second explanation of how to identify the consumer and producer surplus on the monopoly graph. Notice that monopolies charge a higher price and produce a lower output than perfectly competitive markets. Since monopolies are inefficient they also have dead weight loss. Please keep in mind that these clips are not designed to teach you the key concepts. These videos are a review tool to help you better understand what you learned in class.

  • One point to make. The supply curve compromises only the part of the MC curve which lies above the AC curve. Therefore the definition of deadweight loss below the AC curve is kinda loose (strictly speaking).
