Germanans also rejects libertarian ideas like "free" trade so they have a manufacturing base.
Interestingly as Americas politicians ran to the right they didn't stop to think that maybe shipping our jobs to china, pursuing regressive tax code changes would have negative economic effects? OR they did know and knew it would make them very rich even if it destroyed the American middle class.

We have been running to the right fiscally and now Ron Paul wants us to jump off the ledge..?
How about we move to the left fiscally and actually make meaningful change. German social democracy is a good model.
Its actually based off many new dead ideas. They heavily subsidize their unemployed, they have high tax rates(especially on the rich,& they are non interventionist. Germany also enjoys a quickly recovering economy and only 6.7% unemployment.

The income tax in effect makes us all slaves. Do you know where your income tax goes? Well, look it up, how much goes to education? None. How much to hospitals? None. How much to charity? None. It all goes to paying off the interest that your government is accumulating happily on all the money the fed is printing for them!
