At the end, that's Tariq Ali, isn't it?

It sounds like Noam is in front of a giant refrigerator.
However, he very eloquently defends this type of analysis from the vast right wing hordes and centrists who align with them.

if you go to the webpage of the depaul academic freedom comitte and listen to the mp3's of the entire meeting (i'd recommend it, there are some very good speakers at it, notably Norman Finkelstein)
anyways, Tariq Ali introduces Noam and adds the information about his wife, because noam's presentation was pre-taped and he couldnt be there.

where did you hear about this?
-
is the recording from Uni of Chicago or a bootleg from someone there? if the latter, that could be the source
-
Oh. I'm so sorry to hear that. :(

Noam's wife, Carol, is apparently very ill, which made him unable to attend this gathering at the University of Chicago. Thats why he apologizes in the first part.

What's that reference to "times of personal tragedy" mean?
My thoughts are with Noam for his personal struggle and thank you AB for uploading this...
...however sound engineer at the Uni of Chicago its 2007... why the fuck is there massive mic feedback penetrating my ears? I declare the University of Chicago sound man an agent of the state!

Best wishes to Noam and his family. I hope he continues to provide insight into these unusual times with the clarity that we have come to expect. Nice upload!
