Word for the Mac and Word for the PC have compatible formats, meaning you can create a Word doc on the PC and read/edit it on the Mac. People always seem to forget that Microsoft publishes more Mac software than almost anyone else, Apple included. As a matter of fact, Excel appeared on the Mac before it did on the PC (MS finally decided to try and take down Lotus 1-2-3, so they ported Excel to the PC platform...looks like it worked!)

k so i don't really understand this whole thing. i think macs are better but they are not compatible with pc's (correct me if i'm wrong). If you can run windows xp on a mac does that mean that i could make a text document on word and it would be compatible with any other pc computer?

Now that you can run Windows XP on a Mac, that's even more reason to switch to a Mac. You get the best of both worlds. Add in a live Ubuntu CD and you get the best of THREE worlds! Macs rule! :)
