Mimetic words are similar to onomatopoeia...but instead of describing sounds, they describe sensations.
Japanese has a lot of these....here are a few from the staff at http://www.japonin.com/

  • Very useful, ありがとう! I guess the words have slightly different meanings depending on their context, right?

  • Yes- the context can change the meaning.

    For example 'zuruzuru' when used with a heavy object means a dragging motion...

  • Do you mean I can use both demasu or shimasu

  • demasu (出ます = exit) is used for the running nose or caughing, probably becasue in both cases something comes out of the body (air in case of the cauging,...)

    hopefully it helps.

  • why some of them use demasu and some use shimasu

  • jus a lil error in the spelling of the word nasal (not nazal) hanamizu
