this is alvar hanso, whos group funded and created the dharma Initiative. If you recall, Widmore was seen purchasing the logbook from the black rock ship(the one wrecked in the middle of the island from the 1850's)at an auction and it was said that the book belonged to one "Tovard Hanso".

Also,on the blast door map, its stated that the "final resting place of Magnus Hanso" is at the locale of the Black #rock on the island.

So,it would seem the Hanso's have more to do with the island than we know
