Voice of the Broad Masses of Eritrea 7175 kHz received in Germany

Voice of the Broad Masses of Eritrea, the state radio of Eritrea from Asmara, on shortwave 7175 kHz received in Germany on 5 April 2010 shortly past 18:00 UTC with the 2nd programme in Arabic. Receiver: Sony ICF-SW7600GR with built-in telescopic whip antenna. The recording was made outside to escape local interference.

As you can see and hear at 0:40 and 0:58 minutes, the synchronous detector (SYNC) of the SW7600GR sometimes loses locking on weak signals for a second or so. Nevertheless, it is quite a useful feature to reduce fading and interference. The SYNC feature of more sophisticated and expensive receiver models such as the ICF-2001D/2010 is superior, though, as it keeps locking in most cases even on very weak signals.
