I wrote this song a couple of days ago when I was waiting on a call about a job I applied for and really wanted. It got me thinking about how slowly time goes when you're waiting for something.... or maybe I'm just impatient! Impatience doesn't help - still waiting! :)

If anyone wants to play along, the chords are Bb, Gm, Eb, F the whole way through (with a variation
of Bb, Eb, Bb, F at the "six calls..." part of the chorus)

Lyrics:

Chorus:
Seconds become minutes, and minutes become hours
waiting for the phone to ring.
Seconds become minutes, and minutes become hours
waiting for the phone to ring
Six calls already and none from you
I hope that doesn't mean that I didn't get through.
Seconds become minutes, and minutes become hours
waiting for that call from you.
Please be soon.

Verse 1:
I answered your questions
the best that I could.
I gave you the answers
that I thought I should.
But there's never enough time
for everything I wanted to say to you.
So now I'm just waiting,
and wishing and hoping that I hear from you.

Verse 2:
Heart beating wildly
as I try to recall
the answer to your questions
sometimes I hit a brick wall.
I could feel myself trembling,
as your eyes stared deep into me.
My stories were truthful,
but all the time I wondered what you believed.

The ukulele I'm using for the main part of the song is a Barron River Tenor ukulele - check them out at http://www.brguitars.com

The ukulele I'm using for the solo is a KoAloha Superconcert

  • @ctrymaus Thank you very much! It's great to see you back here again. I'm still waiting to hear about the job. There has been a hold up and now I've been told that I won't find out till almost Christmas. Frustrating, but it will be worth it if I get it.

  • @onewomanandsomesongs Thank you so much Janet! This means a lot coming from a great songwriter like you. I really appreciate you watching. Sorry to hear you've lost your favorites too - I seem to have lost my subscriber list in the new format. Can't find it anywhere. I hope they fix the bugs soon! Thank you so much again for such a lovely comment.

  • Did you get the job? I love this song! And I always love your playing and singing. :-)
