Prior to having purchased our Sony HDR-TG3 (Sony HDR-TG1 is USA model) in September 08, we found online information on AVCHD editing a bit confusing. But as soon as we received our HDR-TG3 and we shot a few clips, including this 1920x1080i clip (with the Isle of Wight, UK in background), everything became easier to understand.
The HDR-TG3 (& HDR-TG1) comes with AVCHD playback & editing software but we found that Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum Software (costs about £45 + 30-day trial download available) is much better and it enables 1920x1080i recording to a variety of means, including Blu-Ray and direct uploading to YouTube albeit we have not tested this yet with the new YouTube widescreen format launched in November 08. In fact the AVCHD.m2ts clip you are now watching was taken directly from the MemoryStick onto an HDD then uploaded directly to YouTube.
