A short video from the LA County Dept. of Public Health about the yearly mussel quarantine and testing for toxins in mussels. It's recommended that residents around Los Angeles not pick and eat local mussels from May to October of each year as toxins are highest during this period.

  • Thanks for your comment. You're right, there are other marine life that are toxic to health. Had a chance to look at the white croaker video - very informative!

  • Thank you for the valuable health information regarding mussels. Unfortunately, mussles are not alone in carrying toxins in the Los Angeles area. In Between Santa Monica and Seal Beach Pier, there are several types of contaminated fish that can cause problems to your health. If you want more information on these contaminated fish and how to protect your health, check out pvsfish.org.
