Boston to Korea

Short film about my flight to Japan, ultimately Korea, but this documents the first leg of our journey. The footage of Leah was sped up 10X. However her mouth moves slowly and in sync with the audio using a special technique I invented.

To do this I first shot some video of Leah recounting the trip. I then slowed this down 10x so that I ended up with a video of her extremely slowly moving mouth. This was then replayed on a monitor positioned near the camera lens, facing her.

During the actual shoot all she did was carefully mimic the video of her own mouth moving on a screen in front of her. When the final footage was sped up again what you get is this strange fast/slow effect.
