As of 07 / 2010, NS and a grant from the FRA has been authorized to begin reconstructing new track and upgrading bridges and crossings from Manly Crossing to Charleston for rail shipment thru and to and from Saluda. The constructon, according to the FRA is to begin in March 2011, according to FRA Spokeperson John Cox.

When was the last time it was used? Very interesting..

They cut the track right in front of the shop my brother works at. If they do reopen the Saluda track one of the first things they will do is put the track back together. I will post it if they fix the cut track and then we know.

The line looks absolutely the same. The lights are covered, gates removed, and track cut. It's either a rumor or flat-out lie about it re-opening soon.
At 2:23 is that a guy on the back of that railcar?

This vid was taken late spring of 2001. I understand the line was taken out of service fall of 2001. Bruce
