The original Gaelic Book of Days appeared on the Shepherd Moons album, but was replaced on subsequent singles, compilations, and album pressings from mid-1992 onwards with a re-recording using an English lyric.

All right to this song belong to Enya, Roma Ryan and Nicky Ryan.

  • It's a nice song and all (the original, with english lyrcs), but to me it sounds like the gaelic version is just 'ooh's and 'ahh's. Is this an actual coherent language?

  • @saxojon This Gaelic version is actually the original. The one with the English lyrics was created for the movie Far And Away. The Gaelic language is in fact a real language. She starts singing the Gaelic lyrics around 0:45, as I stated above.

Ok, so this is the original. I still can't manage to differentiate any word from the other. I simply thought that it was Enya's way of doing it. Her music is always kinda... floaty.

  • @saxojon That's her music. Mysterious and all.

  • Thank you... Even though I dont know what she says on this one, I enjoy it more. I guess cause its the way I had it originally

  • @Superapeaholic At 0:45 she starts to sing Ó lá go lá, mo thuras, An bealach fada romham. Ó oíche go hoíche, mo thuras, Na scéalta nach mbeidh a choích. Which translates to From day to day, my journey, The long pilgrimage before me.

From night to night, my journey,The stories that will never be again.

The rest is just vocals, not really words

  • Excellent!!!!!

  • @StormJNight i know you wrote that ages ago, but bear with me :)

for future reference, vocables is better than vocals in the context that you used it in.
