that's because (and i'm sure you'd come to realize this after watching for a few weeks consistently) it's not actually meant for kids. the kid's show thing is merely a format, and a pretty effective (and hilarious!) one, i might add. it's the farce and pretend-deception that puts it on a higher level of funny.

much like how the program wonder showzen was clearly NOT meant for child viewers, ask uncle jay is pretty obviously aimed at an older crowd.

I liked this show for about 10 shows, then the schtick got old.
