Repeated peer-reviewed studies show that ethanol is more efficient and better for the environment than the fuel it displaces - gasoline. At the same time it receives less taxpayer support than gasoline. And in fact, the ethanol tax credit goes to blenders, not ethanol producers, so the credit is mostly given to the oil companies who blend ethanol with their gas.
