Pilot Szabó "Topi" Zoltán survived. He stayed 1 minute after the blast in the burning mig, so he managed out the aircraft from civil areas. He won the "as the crow flies" trophy on riat 2003. Now he can fly only on subsonic planes cause the spinal-injurys he suffered at the ejecting.

The video was made by another pilot on the ground. This was a practice, not an airshow.

The inspection cleared up, that it was an engine failure (a blade blocked in the engine), and there was no other way out from this accident; the MIG factory approved that too. They have undertaken to renew some older MIG-29s of Hungary.

[The aircraft "landed" hard by a farmer, who was just working there; this was the second time in his life, that a mig29 crashed on his land, he said maybe he shouldn't work anymore next to the AFB. Unfortunately the pilot (Rácz Zsolt) died in the crash on 28.07.1998; there exists a video about this too, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eo36KjhiHzg ].

  • hát ez elég durva... valaki eltudná mondani hogy mi gyulladt ki? a leírásban az van angolul hogy "(a blade blocked in the engine)" de milyen penge szállt a hajtóműbe? az egyik "lapátja" a hajtóműnek? köszi a választ :)

  • WOW he had large ones to ride that hing out after it was on fire!

  • @TheTruthHurtsYup "Migs love to self destruct" doesn't represent a discussion, or talking about "Migs". It is just a senseless phrase posted here. Your aim was to "suggest" that MIGs and their pilots are crap. About pilots, you're correct, in some cases. About MIGs, you're not. Military planes are lost all over the world, regardless the make or the owner, MIGs included.. The causes are various: human error, engines failure, structural failure, etc. This is it. Best regards.

  • @ALEXBAB1 wasn't talking about other planes was i?

  • @TheTruthHurtsYup As well as a lot of other planes
