SBC TV shows from 1987 showing how Singapore develop into an modern city with Kampong scenes probably taken from the last few remaining kampongs back then in Jalan Ulu Sembawang!! This song is sang by Jean Yip, also talentine winner in the late 70s. This song also became one of the many nation building songs and was taught in my school during music lesson. It's adapted from this TV serial back then

U are absolutely correct. The show was taken in Jalan Ulu Sembawang.

I can still remember they came to our village for the shooting.. and to my beloved Canberra School..

Reminder.. This show will be telecast again on Ch 8 Mon and Tue early morning 2-4am...

oh, u stay in Sembawang too? I am at Jln Ulu Sembawang. The shooting is pretty near to my house then.

Actually, the house they used for the casts living in was my friend's hse. :P

No, I used to go there in the early 90s. At that time, many of the villagers had already left and amjor development was ongoing. I remembered there was a fishing pond and restaurant there as well. This long stretch of road about 5km or more from Chong Pang to Mandai was really a rustic and laid back place to visit. Nowaday, this rare sites are gone forever.
