Pastor Craig Loibner of Fellowship North (www.fellowshipnorth.net) demonstrates (on a balance beam) the various ways people attempt to walk with God.

The balance beam illustration idea came from Francis Chan.

  • whoever edited this one should include the part where he credits getting the illustration from another minister--assuming that he did. i say that for a number of reasons: (1) it eliminates confusion about it's source, (2) even the secular world associates crediting sources with integrity, and (3) i'm tired of hearing two and three preachers passively claim credit for the same seemingly original accomplishment...illustration...etc. it gets old, and our integrity should be clear.

  • @mdcampbe I'm amazed that of the 10,000+ people who have watched this, only four have commented and all four comments were critical. Do Christians have the ability to point out the good in something? Maybe say an "Amen!" Or ANYTHING POSITIVE??

For all I know (or remember) he did give credit for Chan's illustration. Don't recall. Sorry I didn't follow proper YouTube etiquette. Just thought is was a good message.

    Lord, have mercy on us.

  • @rcmcbryde--as a brother, i love u, but don't miss the lesson. as prchrs, some of us are still taught that ur actions will almost always undermine ur preaching if the two aren't consistent. try not to be quick to consider yourself or the minister in this video as a victim. ask yourself whether the consistency of the responses are message u need to heed; also ask God for insight. Prov 17:10...A rebuke goes deeper into a man of understanding than a hundred blows into a fool.

  • @mdcampbe Thanks for the brotherly love, but you made certain negative assumptions in your comment/rebuke. You weren't there. You don't know that anything was inconsistent. Is it helpful or Biblical to randomly rebuke people you've never met by commenting on their social networks? Do you not see any flaws in this approach?

  • @rcmcbryde...i asked u to include the citation. so i specifically said that he may have cited Chan--but we don't know b/c of the edit. i still see something wrong with that. i also see problems in bristling at forthright criticism. i thrive on praise just as much as everyone else--but i tend to grow more from correction. i didn't begin to grow effectively 'til i began to cut my craving for praise. have you? it seems that you've gotten legit suggestions here, will u consider them?

  • @mdcampbe I don't have an "edit." Just the amount of video that is posted. I added credit to Chan in the description.

Having the phrase "passively claim credit" is not just friendly advice. It's implies judgement based on an assumption. I don't disagree with *what* you are saying...just not sure about the platform. It seems to me more Christians are quick to criticize others than to encourage.

  • Well I thought it was amazing, God can speak through anyone and I was blessed by this. Doesn't matter the vessel when God is the one at work! Thanks for the upload, and let those who have ears to hear be blessed!

  • @rcmcbryde i appreciate the clarification because i think that it adds integrity. i still stand by the "passively claim credit" comment though, because i gave him the benefit of the doubt in my original comment which assumed that he gave credit to Chan--just not within the edit. if he didn't cite Chan, then i stand by the comment. God will judge his motives, but i -- and all Christians -- have an obligation to judge his fruit. ...and in that circumstance, he should have cited his source.

  • @derik8084 Yes he did. Doesn't make it any easier to balance and teach at the same time. Hat's off to both of them.

  • @worktosser If it were me trying to teach and balance, I surely would have! :)
