Outside train station in a small Chinese town. Street food is a very important part of the Chinese diet. Consider that with almost 1.4 billion people - it is a challenge to feed everyone and do so cost effectively. Most street food vendors sell goods at only a couple RMB per serving. Basically 20-40 cents US. Some street food is better than others. In this example I did not partake in the food. Instead I found better alternatives just down the street.

  • That woman is touching the food and the money with the same hand. You take your chances eating food from street venders.

  • @JOConnor100 Yes, for sure! Believe me it was touch and go for many months upon moving to China. I got sick several times and wondered if perhaps I had hepatitis. Since I was living outside large cities sometimes it was hard to get good clean food. But when you find a nice place to eat, Chinese food is really great.
