I have owned Dalmatians for six years now and a couple of mine smile. It looks scary but it is the sign of utmost respect, submission, and love. What a lucky owner!

I had two dalmatians, and I was curious why they smile. I came to conclusion, that it happens when they are excited. Sometimes it involves happiness, but sometimes a feeling of guilt and insecurity. Look at Denver the guilty dog, if you dont believe me: watch?v=B8ISzf2pryI :)
