Bengal kitten Hunters Moon gets his first experience with the Walking Harness. This is cat education, not cat torture - I swear! ;-)

  • I seriously can't even get mine to move in a harness, and he's very active.

  • @Adreiine Yeah, some take to it better than others. The cat in this video is now a great harness walker but it takes time. My method is to put it on the cat for ~15 minutes each day. If they flip out or play dead I try to ignore them (laughing or giving them a big "poor kitty" routine reinforces the incorrect behaviour). At some point they all seem to get used to it. Patience............

  • Training a cat to wear a harness is hard, especially if you're training them when they are older. I just started training my 2-year-old ginger to harness and he doesn't mind it much (he never rolled around on the ground or tried to bite it when I first put it on him), overall hes pretty laid back. It just with the leash that hes a BIT anxious about.

  • Interesting... I started my 7 y/o female on the harness when she was 6 and she took to it at once. She's not a great outdoor walker (she gets 'stuck' where she smells something interesting) but is comfortable in harness. This little guy in the vid is a madman - too hyper for harness right now.

  • Another thing is my ginger hates traffic and our street is busy so I'm having problems walking him.

  • Yeah, mine hates traffic too. I either walk her at dawn when traffic is still light, or put her in my car and take her to a quiet park. In the car I tie her leash to something so she can move around but can't dive under my feet if spooked.
