70s hard rock group Winterhawk reformed and performing Hammer and the Axe at Chicago's Alehorn festival featuring guitarist Jordan Macarus. One of Chicago's best guitarists!

  • A Winterhawk live performance? Wow! When did this festival take place?

    Winterhawk rules!

  • This was from a Winterhawk reunion show in 2006. Alehorn festival in Chicago.

  • I've just recently gotten into Winterhawk and I'm just wondering how they(or Jordan specifically) never got more recognition. Dude is a BEAST on the guitar!

  • I couldn't agree more man!!

  • Great band and great music.

  • @LizRichieBand

There And Back Again was released in 2002. It was recorded in 1978 though.

Yes I'm afraid he passed away far too soon. I didn't know him personally but from what I heard his motivation in life was to make other people laugh. According to Macarus, he was a great musician. He could play guitar, piano, drums, bass and was a great singer. As far as I know, he didn't release any other albums (of course, I could be wrong). There exists live recordings from the 70's-80's, probably in the bands possession, aswell as a video from a performance in the early 80's.

  • @TrollFredrik Really,he died?so sad.Amazing singer hard to beat in any way.Seems he had no range limit at all.Did't know he still played bass.Very gifted guy.I've searched about him on google but didnt find practly anything.Do you know if he has more recordings or or something? Thanks

Doug did a fantastic job doing vocals and bass on the record, indeed. Amazing range and great strength in his voice, and a hell of a bass player. Don't know if he was related to Steve Brown, who did vocals on the live album. Quite similar singing voices.

However, I'm afraid Doug sadly passed away in 2007. R.I.P.

  • great song, but i really miss the" Revival " singer

Their first album was actually called "Winterhawk, There & Back Again-Live at the Agora Ballroom 1978.......what balls on this band....not many would do that then wait 4 years to release a studio record.....get the live album

  • @kurtvonnegutfan I respect that, but I'd love to see them play live, without having a long drive or flight.
