Baristas face off at HK's first ever championship (GBC亞太區)

For me, real coffee shouldnt be served in a giant plastic cup or enjoyed with a slim straw. Many people are now buying caffeine rather than a cup of real enjoyment, says barista Chan Tsz-king.

And on that backdrop comes the city's first barista championship where 17 coffee connoisseurs compete for the title of Hong Kong Grand Barista Champion. He or she will then take part in the Australasian finals.

Prior to the Hong Kong finals, we take a look at some of the action at the competition's elimination rounds. Also in this video, organiser Craig Jackson of Danes Gourmet Coffee explains what he hopes the competition to achieve in terms of boosting coffee culture in Hong Kong.

my understanding of a cappuccino is that you use the extremely creamy, velvety, shiny foam that is made when somebody can actually steam a good pitcher of milk! some people will ask for a dry cappuccino-- all foam, no milk, and some people ask for a wet cappuccino-- slightly more milk, but still not as much as a latte. I work at a coffee shop and i think that there is not necessarily a "correct" way to make anything, because its such a creative task that everyone does it differently!
