When he was suddenly asked to give press conferences after a lifetime of near obscurity.

Imagine that suddenly you had Americas media hanging onto your every word and people demanding that you speak to them. When before all you had was a congregation. Would you not get a rush of the idiot blabbermouth too? Anyone would. I'm lucky in that I have done some radio work so I'm not in awe of the microphone or TV anymore, but most people are. His pastor is a christian. Its pretty odd but when someone goes to a Christian Church and listens to a CHRISTIAN pastor that does not mean he is a Muslim. And if you suddenly had cameras shoved in your face, with reporters egging you on, you would say some pretty ridiculous things too.
