@blackiron60 Not to argue what he actually said, but even your interpretation of what is said is incorrect. The USPS budget has not been slashed at all. It isn't self-sufficient, which is the problem. With the growth of the internet, people are using the USPS less and less, so it no longer has a monopoly on communication. It has nothing to do with privatization. To the contrary, the privatization that has occurred has saved the USPS money. But don't let facts get in the way of Parenti's point.

Why are so many people afraid to loose their wage slave chains? It must be greed? Funny cause the middle class thinks their getting bailed out , but they are actually being bled dry.
This comment has received too many negative votes show
What is he talking about? The USPS is completely publicly owned right now. It is a government corporation with a monopoly on regular mail delivery. And it's losing money.
The private mail carriers (FedEx, UPS, et cetera) are doing much better and provide much better service than the USPS.
This is just another example of Parenti twisting facts to suit is ideology. He should not be teaching anywhere. He makes demonstratively false statements and bases his diatribes on these false statements.

@Timasion He didn't say that the USPS had been totally privatized but that its budget had been slashed and that it was increasingly (like many parts of the public sector) reliant on private contractors which increases costs and reduces efficiency.

93.3 I thought that was CFMU or something like that..?
Either way I like how you went from the present with issues like Greece, a little in the past to Yugoslavia and then ended way, way in the past with ROME. Great interview!

@FlaviusMaximus1967 Thanks. It really is all about making the connections. The present struggles in the world aren't as unique as many people think.
