Watch the full interview and performance here: http://www.amoeba.com/live-shows/videos/taj-mahal.html The Taj Mahal Trio performed at Amoeba San Francisco on October 26, 2008.
With more than 40 albums, two GRAMMYs, and countless collaborations to his credit, Taj Mahal is one of the recording industry's most celebrated contemporary blues artists. In his never-ending exploration of the complex origins and underpinnings of American music, he has forged a four-decade career by gathering and distilling countless musical traditions from a range of geographical and cultural sources: the Mississippi Delta, the Appalachian backwoods, the African continent, the Hawaiian islands, Europe, the Caribbean and so much more.
Wow...I see where Ben Harper got some major major influence. Thank god for mentors! Defintely makes me want to go fishin' ..sabe?!!

Taj has put on some weight. I knew him at Umass in the 60's. He can still sing great but back then he did a lot of Ray Charles.
