A recurring melody in the musical score of The Searchers was the song "Lorena". Almost forgotten today, it was hugely popular during the civil war, both in the North and the South. You hear it in the opening and closing scenes, just after the opening theme, and just before the closing theme which you hear in this clip.

"Duke" in seiner besten Rolle. John Wayne-Symbol des weissen Amerikanischen Westens.

before there was Norris, there was the Duke. Chuck bows to him!

This is such a good movie because Alan LeMay wrote such a great novel. True to the spirit of life in Texas at the time, and his knowledge and understanding of Indians and Indian warfare at the time exceptional! He knew these things like my grandmother did, and she lived just after that era.

i had a kind of feeling, when i was a small boy and first saw this classic picture, on the silver screen...that it was different...something very special...i've come to regard it over these many years, still as the finest picture i have ever seen.
great in every last detail, and a story that transcends anything, that is made today, or has been made for many years.

My favorite Western of all time topped off with this classic Sons of the Pioneers song. The ending scene is the best of John Ford & the Duke.
"That'll be the day"
