I'm sure that he may have been garbage to you. I'm sure el cabron estava jodiendo por ahi, but the man was a poet. A poet in PUERTO RICAN history. Many back in the day would say that Edgar Allen Poe was nothing more then a drunk, but he's regarded in high standards in the history of poetry. Miguel hasn't even gained recognition on a larger scale. Us Puerto ricans need to stop hating on each other and bring our raza up. That's why we as a whole group don't get anywhere, because all we do is hate

I love writing. Stories, essays, blogs. Always hated poetry. Hated that it wasn't spelled-out. Hated that it lacked definition or rules. How will anyone understand what is not defined? How will I know they're understanding me if I don't explain it in plain prose? I wrestled with this for a decade. Maybe I wasn't meant for romantic poetry, but the first time I heard -this- poetry, I felt it. His words could paint my sordid past. Miguel Pinero's writing taught me to love poetry. He spoke for me.

iam very proud to be a latino and what miguel pinero was expressing thru his poems is what were the latinos were going thru in those times i was born in new york and i hang out in the lower eastside in the 60s and the70sand love being there when i herd of pineros acomplisments as poet i felt grat pride that a puertorican won the obs for the firt time we had world recognition,i as a newyorican feel proud of him.

miguel pinero remenber this name and tell youre kids who he really was a poet .writter,playwrite,ect.the first puertoriqueno to be nominated and won them also,yes he had his demons but it was what it was and it is what it is and who ever has the first rock to throw who has no sin then throw it.i wish a could have more space to writte about him the poem the"cause"says what was going then and what going on now.
