HellGate: Cairo, Egypt

Hellgate started out as a matte painting we were doing for fun to see what Cairo would look like under attack. It quickly turned into a series of shots that turned into what you see here. This was shot entirely on chroma, everything but the actors is CG. This was shot using the Sony HDR-HC7, 3D elements rendered in 3D Studio MAX and compositing in after effects. Hope you enjoy!

Technically; the animation and the graphics is very well done and looks very convincing despite the few missing details which could not be observed from the first time, but I didn't get the message from this, and the hidden idea of "coming soon" at the end (i liked the video but I didn't like the word coming soon) and hope it will never come neither sooner nor later!

Well, just let me clarify that we meant nothing political by the "coming soon" part. This video was done purely for fun to practice our CG skills, and we tried to make it in the form of a movie trailer, hence the "coming soon" part.

First of all I'd like to thank u all for ur comments. Hellgate was a small project that 2 people created and shot entirely @home with a sony handycam, so to see all these comments and words of encouragement really flatters us. We are two special effects artists with no background in directing or shooting so we know there are a ton of mistakes, and we promise we'll pay more attention to details in our upcoming projects.
