[PARADISE LOST] Kent Mansley //WARNING

Kent Mansley could never hold a job. He was originally a cop, graduating at a peculiarly young age -- but was fired almost instantly for brutally beating a criminal after he had chased him down.
Getting out of jail on good behaviour, the news about Mansley's almost fatal act of violence led him to the underworld of crime. He did many small jobs but could never stick with one organisation for very long. He'd either cross a line, or make too much of a mess.

That's when the Government approached him. Despite often being used as stealth [spying, detective work, double agents], Mansley was also terrifying when he meant someone was going to get hurt. The Government saw his intelligence and offered him everything he needed -- a safe place to live, protection from all the mafia families he had ticked off in the past, and a steady income. He interrogated, tortured, blackmailed, spied, double-crossed... He become an important personality within the corruption.

Then every Government in the world started going at each other's throats behind closed doors. Threats, payments, blood, everything was being thrown up in the air and then America decided to up its game. But they didn't know how.
Mansley came up with the idea of nuclear weapons. They'd never been used before, but heck, if an apocalypse was coming, America should be the one to start it.
'Organise freedom', take over the world with these weapons.
During this, Kent married a woman just to see if she could give him leads on the rebellion. She found out about his job. He killed her. Simple as that. Mansley didn't even feel a stain. It was just another job.
What Mansley couldn't stop was Hogarth running off. Kent interrogated and treated his step-son like any other target -- with pure brutality. All he knows is that his only reliable lead to the rebellion is out there somewhere and he needs to hunt it down.

He was suddenly in charge of the operation, awaiting orders. Someone told him to give the command. He did. The button was pushed - and the war began.

This question haunts him every night.
Is it his fault? Is he wrong?

Suddenly all this guilt is crashing down on him as everything is gone. What is he doing? Why, hunting Hogarth of couse. Surely it's just because he failed a mission for the first time in a while he's feeling stupid emotions such as guilt.

Personality:
Kent is pretty unknown. Everyone hates him for what he has done. He is one of the only surviving Government bosses left -- next to his boss [unknown], he's pretty powerful, but also alone and now having to do the majority of his work himself as there's rarely any people to work for him anymore.
The public know him well enough to know he's dangerous, though.
If you got close enough to know him, you'd see he's mentally instable. He loves to hold control over death. But as soon as you found that out he'd kill you.
Mansley doesn't see a purpose in anything anymore -- and is stuck in his ways. He just does what he's told, and only finds happiness in the thrill of having the power to determine someone's life.

Interactions:
Kent may know you if you work for the mafia, as he has worked for many different ones and barely got out of them alive. He is referred to as a 'rat' within the families. If you work with the Government, you may also know him. But his line of work is probably much dirtier than yours - and he probably doesn't want to know you.

Editor's notes:
I'm not too proud of this. It's rendered far too dark, and I couldn't be bothered to re-render. The timing's off, I could've done more with the video. Some of the fades don't show and just... blargh. It's not something to take in pride in, really.
Let's just say it's meant to look simple. Because Mansley has a one-track mind: looking for his next kill.
Mansley however is one of my favourite 'villains' in cartoon-ism. He is such an interesting character and I love the points in the movie when he snaps. Think about it - he was willing to tear a mother and son away from each other, and he was willing to kill Hogarth if it meant destroying the Giant. Dark character.

....srsly, though. All of my characters so far have been pretty protagonist. I wanted Kent so bad for this. XD

I watched and rewatched this time and time again. My jaw dropped in awe. Then I read the description and it dropped again. You, my friend, in 2.32 minutes made the scariest, creepiest, most demented and twisted psychopath in animation history out of a character I never deemed interesting.
