N494DMC Pointless overtake must get in front of cyclists

N494 DMC just cannot stand being behind cyclists at the lights so pushes past at the last second.

to be fair i dont think there was much wrong with that. left you both plenty of room considering your speed. It could be said your position on the road was a bit wide. Why wernt you tucked in behind the bike in front?

@mrblack61 It wasn't dangerous but it was pointless. The lights were red and we were rolling towards the lghts the car should have done the same and overtaken beyond the lights once they changed.

Had we been in the car instead of on the bikes then the driver would not have done this.

A simple rule of thumb that all drivers should consider. "Would I do this to another car and would I like it if another vehicle did it to me?" If the answer is no then do not do it to a cyclist.

I do the same to cyclists, once that light goes green, they just be in the way. If cyclists paid road tax fair enough, also if its a 30mph road then i want to do 30mph. Why do I have to swerve round the cyclist, i always stay in my lane and drive past really close. When i reach the lights i make sure my car is all the way to the left so they cant squeeze past and it pisses them off.

Imagine if a car had done exactly that to them, they'd be the first to protest how dangerous it was. But when it comes to vulnerable road users, them being held up is more important than others safety. Sucks to be human sometimes. :/

@jonredhornet I often use exactly that argument when I talk to drivers.

Basically if they would not like another car or something than them doing it to them then don't do it to a cyclist.

Bah, that's nothing to bitch about. Not even a close call, just uncomfortable. It's not like you didn't have any time to react or room to go further left. Only irritation is that he seems potentially aggressive and could have turned left up ahead. Not good, but not all that bad either. If you bitch and moan about everything you're just adding to the rage. Forgive and forget.

@mrcellophane99 I agree, the way he was driving, it wouldn't have been too surprising if he swung a left turn without indicating as he could go straight on or left.

Brave or Stupid ;) LOL. In situations like that I preffer to stay behind the fool in the car so I can see what they are doing.
