One of my parathyroid glands has "migrated" to my chest. Could have been there since birth. How common is this and how difficult will this surgery be? How often is this errant gland cancerous or are they all benign?

So entirely helpful, I was just diagnosed with HPT And now I know nothing will help until they pull that sucker out!!! I suffer from chronic kidney stones and nothing helps with the pain, I cant wait to tell my doctor about this!!!

my mother is 93 yrs. old with this disease. the surgeon in houston will operate, but she is afraid she won't make it thru surgery.. she says sometimes they last up to 3 hours ...what should i do?
