To completely shift gears, I decided to experiment with something here. I sang this back in my high school chorus days (those were longer ago than you might think) and always loved how simple but beautiful the harmonies were. It was written by Italian composer, Cherubini, right around the turn of the 19th century. This one was a bit tricky to pull off, but I like the end result enough to try more of these. I hope you like it too. p.s. I am not anywhere close to a first soprano so that part is a tad flat (I hope it's not too obvious). Enjoy! Thank you sincerely for stopping by.
Easy "How To Do This" Tutorial:
Two computers, preferably laptops work the best for pulling this off. I recorded the alto part first with a laptop webcam and a plug-in microphone then saved that first video on a flash drive. To record the second soprano part along with the alto I opened the alto video on another laptop to play with windows media player so the webcam will record the audio and video of both parts. In this step it is best to do a test recording first with the alto part to do a sound check and make sure it is playing back loud enough - some computer speakers may be needed for this. Then it's the same routine of saving that second video onto a flash drive to play on the other laptop while you record the first soprano part together with the other two and, VOILA! Three part harmony with yourself easy as 1 2 3.
My own suggestions to myself and others to do differently than in this type of video:
1. Make sure that the screen has been blown up to full-size for the playback so that your viewers can actually see your happy singing face.
2. Add accompaniment if you have any trouble holding key or if you just feel like it. Just remember that you are recording three different tracks so that will result in some interesting sounds if you have accompaniment in more than one recording - experiment and have fun though.
3. Computer placement is important to think about if you want to do it like this where you can see yourself three times over but do everything you can to stabilize your computer! I had the laptop you are seeing balanced on top of some speakers which wasn't too bad, but if you want it right by your face (which I do) you'll have to get creative - just be careful.
That's really 'bout it. Try it out if you're interested and please send me a note if you do. I'd love to see others try this too.
FREAKIN YEAH! see i want more than anything to do this because I think it's so cool but did you just sing with your own self singing backround recorded? see I have been trying to record three different parts and then put them together, that's really hard.

I am going to put up a "how to" in my notes since they're relatively long and detailed. It was a bit tough, but definitely not out of anyone's reach to achieve really good results. It's fun to see it all come together in the end too.
