This is my New Uniden BCD996XT. I live near Lake George, NY which is where some of the Boston Central ATC towers are (atop of Prospect Mountain). With an Austin Ferret Antenna at 30', using 50' of LMR-600-UF feedline I get great results. I'll post more once I get the radio programmed. Note that what you hear in th ebackground is my BCT15 which is hearing local Police.

  • Hey everyone, Sorry I haven't answered any of the questions that were posted here. I created this account on a whim and then misplaced the username and password, which has just been found. So, I'll try and address whatever questions that have come in and I'll try and record some "worthwhile activity" on at least one of my scanners to post here. Meanwhile, happy listening.

  • ;) , PD call while on Air Band.

  • @Pilot135R There's another scanner thats out of the shot. You can tell since when you hear the police traffic there's nothing on the 996XT's S meter.

  • Great sound from 996s and 15s, as good or better than some transceivers. The digital scanners are worth saving for because by January 2013 ALL public services MUST switch to narrow band digital (FCC mandate), making analogue scanners capable of only hearing HAM radio, aircraft and GMRS/FRS/MURS! Make sure you get the programming soft ware! So many people get frustrated because of whats involved in managing these new units. I use the ARC Pro soft ware and its GREAT! Worth every penny!!

  • what radio is in the backsound that sounds like a PD

  • The radio you hear in the background is my BCT15.

  • @80209450; It's called 2013 FCC Narrowbanding Mandate that requires all public safety & business industrial LMR systems operating in the 150-512 MHz must move to 12.5 KHz narrowband voice channels. No more 25 KHz bandwith. This is no mandate for digital mode. However, I'm considering the BCD996XT.

  • The BCD 996XT is a 2009 model, I got the two that I have on eBay, seller is salesgal. She sells them NEW for about $469. I got one for that price and the other for $449! CAN NOT BEAT THAT PRICE ANYWHERE!

  • How old is the model BCD996XT? is this a 2009 or 2010 model? also how much did you get it for?

  • @80209450 it doesn't have to be digital, just narrowband

  • No way, i just Liberty 30, sounds like you can get down south new york, Liberty 30 is in Sullivan County, NY
